Here at Pollardworms we harvest are the castings about every 3 months or so, this will
insure that there are plenty of worm castings. When we harvest the worm castings there are a lot of redworms in the
worm bed, this means a lot of worm castings from the harvest.
One of are goals is to be able to provide worm castings and have a better product. This
means that worm castings are of more value to your plants. We have plans to start useing 2 kinds of manure to feed
our redworms. There will be 1000's of pounds of hot composting manure, this will insure a weed seed free worm
castings plus it will kill any bad diseases. The compost pile will reach a 160 degrees and stay there for a few
days, then I will let the pile age for about 2 to 4 weeks then feed it to the redworms.

Worm castings are the end result of a composting process in which we use redworms,
typically the redworm in a composting bin will make worm compost out of your organic waste such as the
fruit and vegetable scraps coffee grounds, from your kitchen among other things.
Worm castings are a fantastic source of nutrition for plants and in the garden. The earthworm
castings along with the liquid that results from the process which is called worm tea, are rich in nutrients and is
an effective fertilizer. They are better in most cases, than that which you can buy in the store and the best part
is that they come from your efforts, which also plays a part in reducing the amount of waste that makes it into the
landfills.
